About Mother’s Care Doula Services
Mother’s Care was established in 1998 by Dr. Marlo Robinson, a former labor and delivery nurse who saw firsthand a gap in the healthcare system. Especially when it came to emotional, physiological, mental, and even spiritual support throughout modern maternity care. Today, Mother’s Care has grown into a team of diverse women who represent a variety of cultural backgrounds. Each has their own beautiful birthing traditions. The organization became the leading childbirth and maternity provider of doula services to 6 local hospitals. They also have proudly become the “Preferred Doula Provider” of Memorial Healthcare System, Mount Sinai Medical Center, and Broward Health.
Mother’s Care doulas have long-standing, trusted relationships with some of the area’s leading healthcare practitioners, including OBs, midwives, and hospital nursing staff. Whether you intend to give birth in a hospital, a birthing center, or at home, their doulas are prepared to help you have an empowering, positive, and supported birth experience!
Services
Mother’s Care offers several different doula services to help new families as they welcome a beautiful new baby.
Birth doulas are “trained, experienced, and certified prenatal, birth, and postpartum professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support before, during, and just after the birth of your baby.” They’ll be by your side throughout labor and delivery. Additionally, they advocate for your and your baby’s safety. All while providing comfort for both you and your partner. While they aren’t healthcare professionals certified to deliver babies and provide medical care, they are well-trained to identify challenges that may arise during birth. Allowing them to help talk you through solutions and keep you calm.
Postpartum doulas are certified and experienced postpartum professionals. They come into your home to provide support as you transition into life with your newborn. They’ll also educate you on subjects like maternal recovery, infant feeding, and other newborn care like diapering, bathing, and sleep. You and your partner will be able to get some much-needed rest as your postpartum doula cares for your newborn.
Specialty
In addition to doula services, Mother’s Care also offers a variety of classes. They help you prepare for birth and parenthood! Held at a variety of hospitals and a handful of community locations throughout the area, their prenatal education classes are designed to help expectant parents get ready for labor and delivery, breastfeeding, and caring for a newborn. They also offer classes like Preparing for a Cesarean Birth, Infant Feeding Choices, and Fear*Less Childbirthing. Can’t make it to an in-person class?
